Dianova Spain and the Sustainable Development Objectives

Education and Training

Dianova Spain’s education activities have contributed to the implementation of Sustainable Development Goal 4 (Education) in terms of formal education, vocational training and human rights education. In addition, Dianova’s initiatives for migrants and refugees have contributed to SDG 10 (reduced inequalities) through training and professional development activities for adult asylum seekers and through the work carried out for unaccompanied minors in residential reception centres.

Dianova Spain also contributed to various targets of SDG 16 (peace and justice) with the development of educational programmes targeting youth violence and through the activities carried out in its educational and therapeutic centres for young people with severe behavioural disorders.

Addiction, Physican and Mental Health

631 people benefited from Dianova Spain’s addiction and mental health services and over 20,000 were reached by the organization’s awareness and prevention activities. In addition, addiction treatment programmes’ design and implementation incorporate a gender perspective (Goal 5) into their design and implementation.

Dianova also carried out an important work in support of the families of people with substance use disorders, providing a more lasting impact. In the area of mental health, Dianova’s initiatives contributed to various of the targets of SDG 3 (health and well-being) while impacting on additional elements of the 2030 Agenda, as was the case with the support programme for victims of torture, cruel treatment or sentences incompatible with international human rights standards.  (objective 16 – peace and justice)

Social and Humanitarian Support

Since 2015 Dianova Spain plays an active role in the field of assistance to migrants, with the support of the Directorate General for Migration and the Ministry of Employment and Social Security. The organization’s work is directly related to several of the SDG targets 2, 3, 4, 5, 8, 10, 11 and 16. This year, 277 people benefited from this work, including the humanitarian reception programs for applicants and beneficiaries of international protection, persons with stateless status and those under temporary protection. In addition, 352 people benefited from Dianova’s professional integration programmes.
