FAPE, Democratic Republic of Congo

Established in 2004, the organization Active Women for the Protection of the Environment (translated from French) is established in Mboko, in the Democratic Republic of Congo’s South Kivu province, as a non-political, not-for-profit organization.

FAPE is committed to promoting women’s rights with the aim of helping Congolese women become self-reliant, free and independent, capable of defending their rights and that of their children’s while engaging in self-management and community development.

Related Activities

FAPE believes that the success of the future generation depends on the actions implemented today, especially through education, a fundamental empowerment tool. This is why the organization is committed to educating women and girls to achieve a more sustainable community development. The literacy courses, women’s leadership promotion workshops and the quality of care project implemented by the organization have, as a whole, contributed to SDG 4 (Quality education) and more specifically to targets 1, 2, and 5, as well as SDG 5 (Gender equality) targets 1 and 6.
