Since its foundation, UNESCO has given great importance to cooperate with nongovernmental international organizations. Over the years, this cooperation has become a genuinely strategic partnership attesting to the importance of civil society’s action alongside UNESCO’s. NGOs now operate in all of UNESCO’s fields of competence.

55th Session of the Commission on Narcotic Drugs

The fifty-fifth session of the UN Commission on Narcotic Drugs will take place in Vienna, 12-16 March 2012. Dianova representatives will attend the commission’s debates while those of Dianova in Portugal will present on March 13, 2pm/3pm: “Engaging youth and Enrolling community on a Prevention Initiative”, a triennial review on the outcomes of a community-based drug prevention initiative: “Mocktails, Memories of a Night of Fun“.

World Youth Report 2011

The World Youth Report 2011, officially released on February 6th, explores the transition of young people from schools and training institutions into the labour market, a phase marking a critical period in the life cycle. The current employment scenario for young people, worsened by the global economic crisis, poses an urgent challenge with long-term implications for both young people and society as a whole. AIDS in Latin America

According to the United Nations program on AIDS (UNAIDS), improved access to antiretroviral treatment has reduced the number of AIDS related deaths in Latin America, while the transmission of HIV aggravates due to scarce prevention programs.

RIOD Prevention Campaign

The RIOD (Ibero-American network of NGOs working in the field of addiction – of which Dianova in Spain is a member) launched a campaign to reduce the risks of drug abuse among Latin American Migrants. More than 5.7 million foreigners live in Spain, among whom more than 3.3 million are not stemming from EU member states – including about one and a half million from Latin American countries.

Dianova Becomes a “family-oriented” Organization

The EFR certification, awarded to Dianova in Spain, was issued by the Spanish foundation “Másfamilia” which is dedicated to promote policies that foster a supportive work environment through the desire to treat all employees as elements critical to the daily management of the organization.
The EFR standards acknowledge Dianova’s commitment to promote a work-life balance, provide equal opportunities to all staff members, and contribute to the ongoing improvement of such areas.

“The time spent drinking”

A new campaign was launched by the FAD foundation in Spain to raise awareness about alcohol misuse and help people start thinking about the growing place alcohol consumption may take in their lives.

An Hommage to Björn

Björn Fältman, collaborator of Dianova in Sweden, left us in the morning of October 25th. Björn´s journey with Dianova started in one of the organization’s therapeutic communities in Sardinia (Italy), a place he always talked about with a lot of passion and where he had left his mark: he had taken the initiative to plant hundreds of trees in a place which is now remembered as “the Björn forest”.
