    For the second year in a row, Dianova in Italy was awarded a prize by the “Sodalitas Social Innovation” program. The second edition of the Sodalitas Social Innovation program was held in Milan (Italy), the latter initiative being dedicated to help community-based and nonprofit organizations develop the skills and tools necessary to prepare stronger and innovative social business plans.

    A new, psychosocial support center was recently launched in Portugal by Dianova to help mitigate the impact of the crisis on the health, welfare and productivity of the Portuguese population. The global economic crisis we are experiencing has entailed deep public spending cuts undermining health care, education and other social services, with dramatic consequences on the well-being and productivity of millions. It is estimated that the economic repercussions of mental health related problems have contributed to a sharp decline in Portuguese GDP by 3 to 4%.

    Dianova in Switzerland and the Emilio Moro Foundation are jointly funding a project to provide students and teachers of Dianova’s Esther del Rio-Las Marias Education Center (Nicaragua) with sustainable access to safe drinking water and accordingly improve the quality of life and health conditions of all.

    A group of adolescents, from Dianova’s Zandueta therapeutic facility in Spain, has successfully completed five stages among those of the Way of St-James in northwestern Spain. This therapeutic and educational experience was started in Jaca, in the province of Aragon, to be finished on September 10 in Puente La Reina, the ultimate stage of their journey.

    Portugal – The Dianova Training Center, certified since 2009 by the General Directorate of Employment and Labor Relations, received recognition as training organization certified by the Scientific Council on Continuing Education and Training (Ministry of Education). This new certification granted to Dianova will permit to ensure continuity in the development of the training plan to the educational community.

    Following its recent inclusion in Chile’s National Register for Educational Assistance, administered by the Ministry of Education (MINEDUC), the Dianova Foundation au Chili is now able to deliver educational support services to the schools which benefit from the government’s Preferential School Grant, or SEP. This certification opens up new challenges for Dianova, in the short, medium and long term, in the path of the organization’s future growth and development and on behalf of a professional and ethical commitment that we hope will bear fruits at all levels.

    The IN NOVA e-magazine, published by Dianova in Chile, has recently been sponsored on the web site of the INNOVEMOS Network (Education Innovations Network for Latin America and the Caribbean), under the auspices of the UNESCO. Dianova in Chile consists of a foundation and a nonprofit organization dedicated to helping people who abuse alcohol and other drugs through a variety of educational and therapeutic programs targeting prevention, rehabilitation and social integration.
