Sept. 16 – the Catalunya en Miniatura theme park celebrated last Sunday the very first ‘Solidarity Day’ within the framework of a local campaign launched in the village of Torrelles, the objective of which was to raise funds to help bring “water and light” to the Esther del Rio Las Marias educational facility, in Nicaragua.
A number of activities were organized to reach to the general public and raise funds, including the sale of ‘solidarity’ flowers and plants, small train rides and the sale of bottled water. In addition, throughout the day, Dianova International volunteers presented videos about the organization’s various social projects, while our youngest visitors were invited to express themselves through various drawings to be sent to the children of Nicaragua.
Alliance Between Dianova & Catalunya en Miniatura
In march 2012, Dianova International established an alliance with the Catalunya en Miniatura theme park – declared a National Point of Interest for tourists – thus becoming the majority shareholder of this family company. The Catalunya en Miniatura was until now solely dedicated to provide the opportunity for people to learn about Catalonia through a scale model replica of the region. With this new alliance, the park hopes to reach a new audience, while providing new, original experiences based on learning and adventure.
This innovative partnership, which results from an alliance between an NGO and a private company, opens the way to a new philosophy of sharing and solidarity. The celebration of the first “Solidarity Day” marks the beginning of this experience, and will be renewed on an annual basis.
