Dianova Joins CoNGO´s Board of Directors

Dianova International has been elected member of the Board of Directors of the Conference of NGOs in Consultative Relationship with the United Nations (CoNGO) for the upcoming three years. Together with Dianova, 19 other NGOs were elected to sit on the board. On behalf of the organization, Dianova representative Ms Elena Goti agreed to the appointment at CoNGO's General Assembly held in New York on 2 April – 4 April, 2014.

The Conference of NGOs' main goal is to facilitate the participation of NGOs in United Nations debates and decision-making and to help them bring their expertise. In addition, the network helps ensuring that NGOs leverage the opportunities resulting from consultative status within the regional branches of the UN, in Geneva, Nairobi, New York and Vienna.

The Conference of NGOs comprises approximately 400 members. Dianova joined CoNGO in 2007, after it was granted consultative status to the Economic and Social Council of the United Nations (ECOSOC)

The work of CoNGO is organized around thematic committees. Dianova International joined the New York-based Committee on the Status of Women, through which the organization hopes to be able to share information, cooperate on substantive issues and contribute to the missions of the United Nations.

Among others, being a full member and a board member of CoNGO contributes to fulfil Dianova´s commitment to increase civil society´s participation in the international scene. Moreover, it enables Dianova to meet and establish relations with a broad network of NGOs worldwide and, ultimately, it helps position Dianova on the international scene.
