Prostitution – Exchanges Cuba/Sweden

As part of a best practice exchange visit in Cuba, organized by Pr. Sven Britton from Swedish, Karolinska Institute and psychologist Ms Kristina Hillgren, a representative of Dianova in Sweden, Ms Cipriana de Arteaga was invited to Cuba to present the characteristics of the Swedish experience in the field of prostitution.

Study: “From Dependence to Re-integration”

Portugal – Following the recent three-year renewal of Quinta das Lapas Therapeutic Community’s certification to the ISO 9001:2008 “Quality Management System”, Dianova announced the publication of the preliminary report of a longitudinal study scheduled until 2014: “From Dependence to Re-integration – a study of substance abusers’ social trajectories after program completion.”

Access City Award 2012

In Portugal, Dianova was designated national coordinator of the Access City Award 2012 campaign launched by the European Commission – Direction for Justice, to promote accessibility in the urban environment for people with disabilities. The new edition of the Access City Award is open for applications until September 20th, 2011 and the winner will be announced at the Award Ceremony in Brussels on 1-2 December 2011.

Uruguay – National Debate on Drugs

The Dianova Foundation in Uruguay participated in the first national debate on drugs, held in Montevideo from 29 to 31 August.

In Uruguay, substance abuse related issues have become more and more extensive in recent years. However, some prominent political and social figures blow the whistle on the overall inadequacy of public responses and call for the implementation of a large national debate that could result in “a new generation of drug policies”.

Dianova Center Inaugurated in Chile

Source: Pulso Diario, translated from Spanish – Domo Paihuén’s residential center is to be the first treatment facility in Southern Chile (from the Araucania region down to the south) designed specifically for women who are addicted to drugs and/or alcohol. The center is located in Loncoche, in a beautiful, natural environment where the residents have the opportunity to enroll in a fruitful therapeutic and counseling program.

The site is remarkably user-friendly and displays pages differentiated by specific color codes enabling easy access to relevant information and knowledge – Dianova’s Corporate and News Brief section were developed by Orange-Original Communication and Triangulo Digital. http://formacao.dianova.pt.

Dianova in Spain Becomes a Member of RIOD

During its July 21 General Meeting, the Ibero-American Network of NGOs working in the field of drug dependence (RIOD) approved an application for membership from Dianova in Spain. The RIOD is a nonprofit umbrella organization which main role is to help connect Ibero-American addiction service providers that are working in the fields of substance abuse prevention and treatment, social and professional integration, and vocational training.
