february 2010: opening of "second chance school" in dianova's "la quintanilla" center (spain)

The project was made possible thanks to the efforts of the regional Board of Education, the Murcia regional Board for Social and Immigration Policies and the Yecla Institute of Secondary Education.

The adolescents will take advantage of Dianova's program and catch-up education at the same time

Dianova's therapeutic and education center for youth with psychosocial disorders recently opened a "second chance school" within the center's premises, under the guidance of the regional board of education's catch-up program.

Educational activities were up to now taken care of by the center's education personnel. From now on, the adolescents will be able to take advantage of their stay to get back in touch with regular education and complement the "life skills" taught by Dianova's program (personal and social development, respect, values, responsibilities, etc.)

A part time professor will teach at "Second Chance School" to youth aged 14 to 16, while older adolescents will attend school on a volunteer basis. Qualifications obtained at the end of academic year will be official.

The curriculum has been closely combined with the methodology of the therapeutic community resulting in a setting based on "work projects". This methodology comprises an individual support and follow-up performed in close relation with La Quintanilla's therapeutic and education personnel.
